
Fergal Scahill
Musician
Fiddler Fergal Scahill began his musical journey at age two with the bodhrán and captivated audiences by the age of five while performing in Galway's Siamsa show. Over the past two decades, he has earned numerous All-Ireland titles across various instruments and group competitions. Fergal has collaborated extensively in the music industry, recording five solo projects, two albums with Freewheel, and seven with We Banjo 3.

His "Tune a Day" project features over 1,200 tunes and includes collaborations from around the world. In 2023, Fergal served as the artist in residence at Scoil Acla and has been an instructor at Milwaukee Irish Fest and Brittany Winter School, highlighting his commitment to music education. Fergal has received several accolades, including Male Musician of the Year at the American Celtic Listener Supported Radio Awards (2020) and Album of the Year for "One Day: November Woods" (2021).

He co-founded We Banjo 3, a band that has won significant recognition, including the Traditional Album of the Year from the Irish Times and Best Folk Album at the 2018 RTÉ Folk Awards. Best known as the fiddle player in the award-winning band We Banjo 3, Fergal has achieved considerable success, with the band winning Album of the Year at the RTÉ Folk Awards in 2018, the Irish Times Album of the Year in 2012, and securing two No. 1 albums on the Billboard bluegrass charts in the USA.

Throughout his career, which spans over 20 years, Fergal has won multiple All-Ireland titles at the Fleadh Cheoil, including the prestigious Senior All-Ireland Fiddle competition. Recently, he has gained international recognition for his Fiddle Tune A Day project on social media, where he has shared over 730 tunes, collaborated on hundreds more, and amassed tens of millions of views.

Fergal has performed in over 30 countries and contributed to more than 40 albums with musicians from around the globe. His discography includes three solo albums, six albums with We Banjo 3, two albums with Freewheel, and two successful charity albums for Pieta House and The Hope Foundation, collaborating with many prominent figures in Irish music.
