Carl Corcoran 
Musician | Singer

Carl Corcoran is a veteran of the music industry with 45 years of experience. In the mid-1970s, he recorded three albums under the moniker Jamie Stone. His debut album, *New Day*, received several awards in 1974 (a precursor to the Choice Awards), including Artist of the Year. In 1976, he had a Number 1 hit with the song "I Believe in Love."

In the late 1970s, Carl moved to New York, where he pursued a career in various aspects of the entertainment business. During this time, he recorded the award-winning CD *Dancing The Dublin Reel*, which was voted Album of the Year by The Irish Echo in 1995. Carl returned to Ireland in 1999 and joined RTÉ Radio, where he broadcast on Radio 1 and Lyric FM until his retirement from the organization in 2017. For ten years, he curated and presented "The Blue of The Night," an acclaimed eclectic late-night program on RTÉ Lyric FM.

A graduate of the MA in Community Music at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, Carl solidified his connection to the university in 2017 when he was appointed Course Director for the inaugural year of the MA in Songwriting at the Academy. Currently, Carl divides his time between his role as Course Director, performing occasionally, and promoting various songwriting-related activities, including public and private workshops.

Songwriting remains a constant part of his life. Throughout his career, Carl Corcoran has demonstrated expertise in songwriting, publishing, management, performance, and broadcasting. His music career began in the mid-1970s when he recorded three albums for EMI that featured original material and collaborations with various co-writers. He spent twenty years in New York pursuing songwriting, publishing, management, and performance while also developing a passion for radio.

After returning to Ireland in 1999, he presented shows on RTÉ Lyric FM and RTÉ Radio 1, including *The Lyric Breakfast* and the acclaimed late-night program *The Blue of The Night*, until his retirement from RTÉ in 2017. After his broadcasting career, Carl served as the inaugural Course Director for the MA in Songwriting at the Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick from 2017 to 2022. Following this, he studied at Kingstown College in Dublin and earned a Professional Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring (with Distinction) in 2023.
